Longing for blue.
Before breakfast or after an active day in the mountains, go for a swim in our 28° indoor swimming pool. Not cold enough for you? Pack your swimming togs and head for the bracing waters of Lake Sils or Silvaplana (12° to 18°), both of which are fed by the Inn River.

Fascinating Upper Engadine.
Our region offers an extraordinary range of beautiful opportunities for hikes and walks. 580km of hiking trails in the Engadine, of which Sils maintains some 70km. Whether you would like to explore barefoot trails with your family, take on a high alpine tour in the face of glaciers, lakes and snow-covered mountains as an experienced hiker or explore barrier-free trails as a wheelchair user, the Engadine is perfect for your passion.
Our certified hiking guides will be happy to offer advice on planning your hike. Five days a week, they offer accompanied hikes tailored to your needs.

Go with the flow.
The Engadine offers 400km of bike paths for all levels. Our guests can rent mountain bikes and BikeTech electro bikes from the Waldhaus. Ask the concierge for information about bike paths and tours.
Sailing/wind surfing/kite surfing
The legendary Maloja wind makes it possible: Lake Silvaplana is an internationally renowned and popular with sailors, wind surfers and kite surfers. With winds of 3 to 6 Beaufort starting at around noon, the lake, practically at our doorstep, offers optimum conditions. Sailing and wind surfing regattas are held regularly during the summer.
If you want to join the fun, you will find what you need at the Sailing and Surf Center.
Stand-up paddling is booming, particularly among young people. The Beach Club and the Kite Surfing and Wind Surfing School on Lake Silvaplana offer classes and equipment.
Canoes, kayaks, rowboats
Lake Sils and Silvaplana are fun to explore on the water.
Rowboat rentals in Plaun da Lej on Lake Sils, from end of June to end of September, and at the Sils pier. Canoes and kayaks can be rented at the Kite Surfing School on Lake Silvaplana. Link.
Caught in the wild.
The romantic bays of crystal-clear lakes and the bubbling mountain streams which grace the landscape around Sils Maria are a paradise for ambitious fishermen and -women, no less than for the occasional angler and for children.

Upper Engadine – heaven for golfers.
Golf enthusiasts find what they are looking for at the Waldhaus. Four different golf courses lie within 30km of the hotel, including two with 18 holes, the Engadine Golf Club in Samedan (16km away) and the Engadine Golf Club in Zuoz (27km away). Enjoy 9 holes at the Kulm Golf St. Moritz – and even closer, the Margna Hotel in Sils-Baselgia has 6 holes and a driving range.
As a Waldhaus guest, you receive a discount on green fees at the Engadine Golf Club in Samedan and Zuoz.
Several riding schools and lovely bridle paths for exploring the countryside on horseback are nearby. Offers for beginners, those who would like to get back into practice, and for expert riders. Our concierge has information.
Horse carriage rides
To the Fex Valley.
A carriage ride offers a change of pace and is a special experience for all ages. Travelling the nearly car-free Fex Valley or another idyllic country lane can make you see the world in an entirely new light. Discover a slower pace of life. Our concierge has information.
Thanks to the Waldhaus transportation pass, a free trip on Lake Sils between Sils and Maloja with Europe’s highest scheduled motorboat line.
A free ride
Up and away.
The Waldhaus offers all summer and autumn guests a free pass for the cable cars and lifts in the entire region and for the public buses ranging as far as Soglio and Chiavenna and the Rhaetian Railway line to the Bernina Pass and to Alp Grüm.
Gone with the wind.
What could be more exciting than floating over the Engadine lakes with a paraglider? With the right equipment and professional instruction or in a tandem glider, this can be a memorable part of your summer or autumn vacation.
