Oh, those Gigers. Amalia and Josef opened the Waldhaus in 1908;
113 years later, we have named a restaurant after them.
And, it is really something! Constructed from alpine wood, to be assembled and disassembled just like the wooden scaffold that Josef Giger had erected on a spring day in 1905 at the top of the hill so he could decide exactly where to place his Waldhaus. Clearly, he hit the nail on the head!
GIGERs, our latest culinary project, is located on what used to be our third tennis court, in the midst of the dreamy forest. Enrico Uffer from Savognin created and constructed the “quadrin”, our temporary wooden house.
The light-flooded restaurant, constructed from alpine wood, with its large panoramic windows and view of the Laret-forest, invites you to spend some cozy hours. Choose between the warm atmosphere inside and the terrace when the sun is shining (spring & summer).
Simple and super delish. Cheese fondue, all-you-can-eat-raclette and other seasonal dishes are available. Our table-top grills provide in the evening an ideal change of pace for Waldhaus and non-Waldhaus guests. If ordered in advance, a wide choice of condiments and types of meat are available. In the afternoon, there are various snacks and sweet pastries or a hot grog to warm up. Are you looking for something new, old?
